This blog is devoted to how power never functions as intended. By power, I mean both political projects that intend to shape the world in a specific image, as well as the circuitries of physical power, which make cities hum, light up, and come alive. In contrast to the visible triumph of modernization and global capital, commodities fall into disuse, electrical grids fail, and buildings decompose. I will use this blog as a place to collect my reflections on contemporary politics, films, and my travels through Asia (mainly China), following the broken lines of power as I go.
